4-port KM (keyboard/mouse) switch
with cursor & mouse-gesture switching, audio support, and USB 2.0 peripheral sharing
SKM-04 enables users to manage and switch KM (keyboard and mouse) functions of four connected computers, including multi-head computers.
With support of multiple displays per computer, users can create the ultimate keyboard/mouse environment. This can be a superior solution to operating a KVM switch, especially among multi-head computers. Users can simply connect the monitors directly to the computers and use the SKM-04 to switch between computers for keyboard/mouse operation.
SKM-04 is completely driverless, requiring no software or updates (although the switch has the capability for firmware updates). It is compatible with virtually any PC and all major operating systems without the need for software downloads, and it supports all USB 2.0 devices.
With full USB keyboard and mouse emulation, SKM-04 delivers the utmost in user-friendly operation. Furthermore, the switch enables users to control keyboard/mouse functions on one computer while maintaining the connection of other USB peripheral devices on another connected computer simultaneously, without interruption for improved workflow.
Users can switch inputs via the buttons on the front panel or keyboard hot keys. SKM-04 is the first keyboard/mouse switch on the market to offer RS-232 control. Users can also switch using a double click of a mouse's center button (known as Mouse-Gesture Switching). In single-head mode, users can switch computers with Smart-AVI's PASS (Progressive Automatic Screen Switching) technology, which enables the device to automatically switch computers based on where the user's mouse goes. It's a quick, efficient and intuitive way to provide smooth switching that corresponds with a user's cursor movement.
PASS - Single Video-Head (Absolute-Mouse) Mode Switching
SmartAVI's PASS (progressive automatic screen switching) technology allows seamless switching between single video-head computers by moving the mouse cursor from one display to another. With PASS, users can effortlessly switch computers for faster productivity.
PASS works in Absolute-Mouse mode, supporting single video-head computers.
When a user moves the mouse, SKM switch provides the computer with the cursor's new coordinates on the screen. This may result in the mouse movement appear a bit jumpy, especially in mouse-intensive applications such as CAD or gaming.
If the cursor movement in Single Video-Head (Absolute-Mouse) Mode is too jumpy and not accurately responding to acute mouse movement, then Relative-Mouse Mode should be used instead.
Mouse-Gesture - Multi Video-Head (Relative-Mouse) Mode Switching
When using computers with multiple displays (or when cursor movement must be smooth and continuous), SmartAVI developed a feature called Mouse-Gesture switching, which is a technology that allows switching between computers using simple mouse clicks and gestures.
No device driver is required. Simply press the scroll wheel twice and then move the mouse in the direction of the channel you desire to switch to.
Mouse-Gesture switching works in Relative-Mouse mode, supporting multi video-head computers.
